Firstly I don’t weigh my food or count calories and quite honestly I could not think of anything worse. I also don’t follow strict meal plans because they are not sustainable in the long run. If you can’t maintain your diet for say the next five years then you are probably not going to get the results that you are looking for. A healthy lifestyle will yield far greater lasting returns than any fad diet. I stick to a few basic principles and listen to my body. To me being in shape means gradual progress over time based on balance and consistency. Anything that is extreme will not produce long term results.

sooooo…

Never miss breakfast.

Maintain a satisfied tummy throughout the day by eating frequently. Try not to go for more than 3 hours without eating, aim to not be hungry or full at any time. By eating like this you fuel your metabolism to work optimally throughout the day.

Think of your stomach as being the size of a glass that fills up as you eat your meal, if you over eat at any sitting anything that spills over the glass stores as fat!

Don’t deprive yourself! If you are craving a sweet treat then have a block or two of chocolate or a salty chip if you are craving something savoury. Depriving yourself will always end in unnecessary binging. I love savoury snacks and eat a handful of crisps almost daily.

Try to eat some form of protein at each meal and at least 5 portions of fruits and veggies daily.

Eat foods that are close to nature, so one ingredient whole foods. Limit anything that is processed.

Don’t eat carbs while consuming alcohol.

Eat a balanced diet with lots of different colours and food varieties.

Breakfast should be your biggest meal and all subsequent meals should taper down.

Eat well and love your food!!!!
